Happy New Year!!!!!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Should old acquaintance be forgot,
and never brought to mind?
Should
old acquaintance be forgot,
for
old lang syne?

(fun fact: Auld lang syne means old times sake)
(another fun fact: hearing this song makes me cry... its so bittersweet and beautiful)

Hope you are ending 2011 with friends and good cheer, and I wish you a very happy New Year!

New Years Resolution

I don't know that I've done New Years Resolutions in a while, law school isn't really conducive to anything but law school.

But now that I've been working for three months, I'm an attorney, my relationship is going well, and pretty much everything is hunky dory... I think I'll resolve to make 2012 better.

(Just a note: 2011 was pretty freaking fantastic, but there is always room for improvement.)

In 2012 I resolve to...

1) Save more
2) Weigh Less/Be in Better Shape
3) Connect with people better (this involves making time for them and listening once I make that time)

I know, because I've already read January's Real Simple and InStyle, these are not uncommon goals. But hopefully by writing them down, in public, I'll be more inclined to stick to them. Also, a year from now I can look back and see how I've done.

What are your New Years Resolutions? Do you have any?

What watch?

Men's Timex
Back in May of 2010, I spent less than $40 and bought this watch.

Now its a year and a half later, and I've loved this watch. It was big and clunky and I like that its easily read and simple and it tells me the date.

But now I'm kind of over it. I wear a watch to work every day, because sometimes I need to know the time and I don't want to walk around carrying my cell phone. But I kind of want something more dressy.

These are some of the options I've been considering:

Citizen's Women's Watch
Citizen's Women's Watch
Citizens Women's Watch with Black Watch Face
Bulova Women's Gold Watch
Clearly I'm hovering around a central theme. But since I can't decide that I like any one in particular better than the others, I'm going to stick with my current watch and just be on the look out.

Sparkle for New Years

I like New Years Eve. I know some people think its overrated, but I like celebrating the end of the year and the beginning of the new one with a big party. I've been going to the same New Years party for the past few years and it is the BEST. I get to see old friends, there is lots of drinking, and sometimes the host gets drunk and tells us all how much he likes us and appreciates our friendship (in a football movie esque pre-midnight peptalk, its my favorite).

But this year I might be doomed to wear the exact same thing I wore last year if I don't get my act together!
Now ideally I'd wear anything and these amazing heels and that would be my outfit. But they're a little out of my price range, and the party is so crowded that no one will see my shoes, also Boston and snow.. so... thats a no go.
Jimmy Choo Glitter Platform Pump
But a dress is more doable.
Tinley Road Sequin Tank Dress
Or maybe a really amazing top?
Michael Kors Scoop Neck Sequined Top
I'm not sure yet... But I do know that if I wait too long, I WILL be wearing the same thing I wore last year :p

Happy Holiday of Lights

I think Hanukkah is awesome. I love lighting candles on the darkest days of winter, it is beautiful. (While finding the images for this post I realized that Hanukkah is a metaphore for religion in general, providing a light, a miracle, a little more oil, just when we need it most, in our darkest days, or when under siege... I like it.)

Simple, silver menorah
Take a gander at some of these beautiful menorahs...
Frosted Glass

Manzanita Candelabra-- I WANT!!!!
Pomegranate Menorah
Tree of Life Menorah
I have the last one, but one of the holders broke, so on the last night of Hanukkah I'll be a candle short... oops.
Happy Hanukkah everyone!
